Clinical trials in new medications on PTDM
Prof. Mads Hornum, one of the members of the consortium, came to Tenerife to discuss a new protocol he is currently implementing in the Rijshospitalet of CPN on the use of GLP-1 antagonist in the treatment of patients with PTDM. Prof. Hornum has major experience in clinical trials in PTDM with new medications. He showed to us the protocol, criteria for patient selection, follow-up, expected outcomes (related with reduction of hyperglycemia and safety), prevision of extension studies, etc. Of major importance we discussed the possibility of doing similar studies in the future, between both centres and including the Oslo University.
Of utmost importance, he told us their experience of interacting with the pharma-industry, in this case Novonordisk, an aspect we need to develop in the future.
We took advantage of the visit to discuss future collaborations and common activities.
